Service Mini-grants

Each year the Massachusetts Service Alliance invests funds to support innovation in service and volunteerism*. Past service initiatives include grants for:

AmeriCorps Week

National AmeriCorps Week is an annual event designed to provide recognition for current AmeriCorps members and alumni, as well as increase awareness of the value of AmeriCorps service as a strategy to meet community needs. AmeriCorps Week projects engage a wide-ranging set of individuals, including current AmeriCorps State, National Direct, and VISTA members, as well as AmeriCorps alumni and community volunteers.

Projects funded under this initiative spotlight current AmeriCorps programs and/or projects, the benefits of AmeriCorps service, and the opportunities AmeriCorps offers to prospective members. AmeriCorps Week took place May 14 - 21, 2011. Click here for a copy of the RFP.

The National Volunteer Week mini-grants represent a wonderful chance to expand service opportunities for people of all ages throughout Massachusetts; to help nonprofit organizations increase their capacity to recruit, support and recognize volunteers; and to celebrate the power of service as a strategy to meet community needs.

National Volunteer Week will take place April 10 - 16, 2011. Click here for a copy of the National Volunteer Week Resource Guide.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service mini-grants are designed to help develop opportunities for people across the Commonwealth to engage in volunteerism and service during the week of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday (January 16, 2012).

The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community.

The Massachusetts Service Alliance is excited to offer this grant opportunity to expand service opportunities for people of all ages to address pressing community needs throughout Massachusetts in conjunction with the MLK Day of Service.  Click here to learn more about the MSA funded 2011 MLK Day of Service projects.
