Massachusetts Service Alliance builds capacity of nonprofit organizations to engage, support, and use volunteers and service participants effectively to meet community needs. To that end we provide training and technical assistance and share information about trends and best practices in the field of volunteer management .

As the administrator for AmeriCorps State funding for Massachusetts, we provide resources to strengthen National and Community Service programs throughout the Commonwealth. MSA training and technical assistance includes assistance to AmeriCorps grantee programs and their community partners.

Over the years we have learned that strengthening an agency's overall capacity is an essential component in creating strong volunteer programs. MSA's training and technical assistance helps agencies recognize that volunteers are part of a human resources continuum that ranges from paid staff, to service members receiving a stipend or living allowance, to unpaid volunteers who may be recognized and rewarded in a variety of ways.
