Recognizing and Evaluating Volunteers
When: Tuesday, March 20, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Where: The Nonprofit Center, 89 South Street
(Near South Station), Boston MA

Workshop Description:
This workshop will combine tips and group discussion about low-cost ways to recognize volunteers with a look at the flip side: volunteer performance evaluation. We will explore how the program and the volunteer benefit when you carry out regular performance management conversations, and review different approaches to evaluation and sample evaluation forms. We will also touch on the broader topic of evaluating your volunteer program as a whole by reviewing outcome data and gathering feedback from stakeholder groups.
Bring the following to share, if you have them: (a) one good idea for volunteer recognition; and (b) a copy of your program's current volunteer evaluation.

Volunteer Management Bootcamp

This workshop is co-sponsored by MSA and the United Way of Pioneer Valley Volunteer Center. We are pleased to bring this workshop, offered in Worcester in 2010, to volunteer managers in the UWPV region.

Workshop Description:
This workshop, designed for new volunteer managers or those transitioning into a role that includes recruiting and supporting volunteers, provides an introduction to the theory and practice of managing a high quality volunteer program. We will review the basics of each step of the volunteer management process from recruitment and selection through evaluation and feedback to ensure that both volunteer and agency needs are met.

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Massachusetts Service Alliance invite you to present your successful service-learning strategies at the annual statewide conference this spring. We’d like to have a variety of workshops that include skill-based sessions, as well as sharing of promising practices for service-learning implementation and sustainability.
Students often submit workshops to present as well!
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Sustaining Service-Learning
- School-Community Partnerships
- 21st Century Skills and Service-Learning
- Service-Learning with Students with Disabilities
- Service-Learning and College/Career Readiness
Showcase your work…
Whether you wish to give a formal presentation or not, all attendees will have the opportunity to display service-learning success stories. All workshop presenters are asked to bring a display or poster for the showcase. You will have the opportunity to register for a showcase only (without a workshop session) when you register for the conference. Please consider showcasing your work.
