Dear Friends of MSA,

As you may have seen in the news recently, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) started its work at AmeriCorps last week. So far, that effort has led to the abrupt "demobilization" of AmeriCorps NCCC and FEMA Corps members, reported by the Associated Press on Wednesday. We also know that approximately 85% of the federal employees who work at the AmeriCorps Agency have been put on administrative leave with pay.

We are concerned that this is a path to effectively dismantle national service – including AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps VISTA, and AmeriCorps Seniors – and jeopardize the critical and effective programs that serve local communities throughout Massachusetts.

In two easy steps, we are calling on you, as supporters of our work, to help us amplify our response.

  1. Email Congress using this form organized through Voices for National Service.
  2. Make a follow up call to your Congressional offices using this script. Offices need to hear a strong response that we need to protect AmeriCorps and National Service.

Please also share this with your broader network so that more voices will be speaking up in support of AmeriCorps at this critical moment!

Thank you for standing with MSA and for your dedication to our Massachusetts AmeriCorps members, AmeriCorps Senior volunteers, and the communities they serve. Please contact Beth McGuinness or Lindsay Rooney with any questions. Thank you for your help in this critical effort!
